Retainer Instructions
- Follow the doctor’s instructions regarding continuous retainer use, except during meals.
- To prevent misplacement, especially in public areas like schools and eateries, always place it in its case when not in use.
- Daily cleaning of your retainer is essential. Use a toothbrush with toothpaste or soap and lukewarm water.
- While cleaners like Efferdent® aid in hygiene, they should complement, not replace, brushing.
- Proper cleaning is key to avoiding plaque accumulation and odor.
- Retainers are prone to damage; keep them in their case when not worn to avoid loss or pet damage.
- To become accustomed to the retainer, practice speaking or reading aloud.
- In case of loss or breakage, contact our office immediately.
- Avoid self-adjustments; reach out to us for any fitting issues or queries.
- Remember to bring your retainer to all orthodontic appointments.
- While replacements can be expensive, they last long with appropriate care.
- Take out your retainer before swimming.
- Protect it from high temperatures and potential hazards like washing machines and clothing pockets.
